  Multicultural Event in Dorchester

  On Sunday 4 October 2009 a new community event is to be launched in Dorchester which is based around sports, food and cultural activities/specialities from around the world.  It is the brainchild of local resident Khalique Miah who would like to encourage networking and socialising with ethnic minority groups and the community.  After successfully applying for funding, and with the support of Dorset Community Action, Khalique and his friends have set up a FREE, fun, family day, to take place on the Kings Road Playing Field from 11.00 – 16.00 - with additional indoor space and facilities at Dorchester Youth Club, just a short stroll away.

  Khalique and his friends would like people to come and enjoy the event and would particularly like to encourage participation in some of the activities – either to perform music, dance or song or form a team to take part in some of the organised fun sessions of Kabaddi (see You Tube!), Tug of war and 5-a-side football.  The sports will be supervised by Weymouth College Sports Development Team and volunteers.  Please would you ask your colleagues and contacts if they would like to come and take part – see the attached Poster and Booking form – and pass this information on to anyone who you think might be interested.  

  If you belong to an organisation which would like to showcase their activities in support of this event – we would love to see you there too – please get in touch or fill in attached form.

  We are also seeking raffle prizes, giveaways and sponsorship for some sports trophies to enable this event to become an annual fixture in the Dorchester calendar, so if you feel you are able to help, please get in touch so that we can discuss this further.  If you have any queries, please don’t hesitate to make contact;  we look forward to hearing from you.
